Do you have more than one USB port?
If you do, try it in another port. I had a pc once where the protective plastic shielding of the port broke and nothing would work in it.
Try the cable / camera in another pc.
USB cables are cheap and it’s always good to have a spare anyway.

dont use front usb ports try ones on the back of pc assuming you have loaded progran that came with camera.

There is a bigger problem which could be anything from a bad driver to a bad power supply.
Have you installed any software for and USB devices? They are well known to cause problems.
USB ports also provide 5V 500mA to power devices. If your power supply is failing, then that may be a problem.
